Certified Marriage Certificate
Do we need to order a certified marriage certificate?
For most couples, the answer is yes. After you are married, you will need your proof of marriage.  Places such as Social Security, DMV, Employers, Banks, as well as name changes, will require a certified marriage certificate as proof of marriage. Â
You can order your certified marriage certificate online through the Clark County Recorder’s Office.  But please keep in mind, Officiants have 10 days to submit your completed marriage certificate to the Recorder’s Office.  Once submitted to the Recorder’s Office, you can order your certified marriage certificate within 1 to 2 business days.  I would also allow a few weeks for processing and shipping if ordering online. Â

Nevada Apostille
What is an Apostille?
An Apostille is a certificate issued by the Secretary of State that authenticates a document for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention. So for marriages, the Apostille is authenticating your certified marriage certificate is legitimate, allowing your country to recognize your Las Vegas wedding.
Also keep in mind, Apostille’s are prepared by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office in English. They do not provide translation services in any other language.
Who needs an Apostille?
If you reside outside the US, and live in a country that participates in the Hague Convention, you will most likely need an apostille.  But since every country is different, it is recommended you check the local requirements where you reside.
List of countries participating in the Hague Convention below
How long does it take to get an Apostille?
I would allow at least 2 to 3 months for an Apostille, since there are several steps involved.Â
1. Â Order certified marriage certificate from Clark County Recorder’s Office and wait for it in the mail.
2. Â Once you receive the certified marriage certificate, you will need to mail the certified marriage certificate to the Secretary of State’s office, along with your order form for the Apostille.
3. Â Secretary of State’s office will process your order, and mail you your Apostille.
